Welcome to Year 1. On this page we will share with you information to support your child's learning at home. We hope that you can get involved in your child's learning by attending school events. Details of this terms events will be listed below.
Spring Term 2019
Thursday 14th February - 100 Day maths celebration
Homework - We will be taking part in the school reading race, and would like all children to read at home at least 5 times per week. We will count on a Monday how many times a child has read at home and these will work towards earning raffle tickets and other prizes! Please bring book bags to school everyday. Spellings will be sent weekly. Homework will also be sent weekly - thank you for your support in helping your child to complete their homework.
PE - will be on a Tuesday and a Thursday. Children will need both indoor and outdoor kit, including both plimpsols and trainers - all named please!
Water bottles - these should only contain water, no juice or flavoured water please. Snacks will be provided and all children are entitled to a free school lunch everyday in Year 1.
Phonics in Year 1
Children will take part in a daily phonics lesson following the 'Read, Write, Inc' scheme. Children are grouped according to their abilities and take part in a daily phonics/reading lesson.
The children will take part in the statutory Year 1 phonics check in June. More details will be given at the parents meeting - look out for details! Below you will find some links to website which might be useful in supporting your child with phonics.
