Homework - We will be taking part in the school reading race, and would like all children to read at home at least 5 times per week. We will count on a Monday how many times a child has read at home and these will work towards earning raffle tickets and other prizes! Please bring book bags to school everyday. Spellings will be sent on a Monday, to be tested the following Tuesday. For our topic homework we will be sending a 'homework menu'. Your child can choose one task per week to complete in their homework book. We hope they enjoy being able to choose tasks they enjoy!
PE - will be on a Monday and a Friday. On a Monday it will be taught by our sports coach, Mr Young. On a Friday it will be taught by Mr Hunton (2H teacher). Children will need both indoor and outdoor kit, all named please!
Water bottles - these should only contain water, no juice or flavoured water please. Snacks will be provided and all children are entitled to a free school lunch everyday in Year 2.
Phonics in Year 2
In year 2 we follow 'Read, Write, Inc' for our daily phonics and reading lesson. All children will take part in a daily RWI lesson in small groups.
Some children will have additional phonics sessions if needed to support them if they did not pass the phonics check in Year 1. Below you will find links to websites which you can use at home to support your child with their phonics.
