English
We have a daily English lesson in Year 2, alongside a half an hour phonics/spellings lesson. We are really trying to secure children's use of capital letters and full stops, and encouraging them to use a wide range of vocabulary in their writing.
If your child is writing at home and you notice that they forget a full stop, or form a letter incorrectly, it will help them if you show them the correct way to do it. Please also do so in your child's homework.
English is assessed termly for both reading and writing so that we can monitor progress. If we have any concerns about your child we will speak to you about how we can work together to help them at home and at school.
In English we will be learning through a range of text types including fiction, non-fiction, poetry and explanation texts. It is important that you hear your child read at home at least 5 times a week in order that they can practise the skills we teach them in school.
