Dell Primary School is committed to providing an appropriate and high-quality education to all the children living in our local area. We have high expectations of all our children and encourage them to have high expectations of themselves. We want them to be confident in their ability and to become resilient learners.

We are an inclusive school, we aim to meet the individual needs of our children with communication and interaction, cognition and learning difficulties, social, emotional and mental health, sensory and/or physical needs or medical conditions. We offer a range of provision and support to meet the needs of our pupils. The range of support is tailored to individual need following assessment by internal or external agencies and discussions with parents or carers, children and staff.

We believe that all children, including those identified as having special needs have a common entitlement to a broad and balanced academic and social curriculum which is accessible to them and to be fully included in all aspects of school life.

The Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Code of Practice states that:

“A pupil has SEND where their learning difficulty or disability calls for special educational provision, that is provision different from or additional to that normally available to pupils of the same age.”

The SEND Code of Practice sets out four broad categories of need. These are:

- Communication and Interaction

- Cognition and Learning

- Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties

- Sensory and Physical Needs

We are committed to ensuring that every child achieves the best possible outcomes and our practices and procedures ensure that pupils' special educational needs are identified quickly.  If additional specialist advice or support is necessary we will work with external agencies ie, NHS, educational psychologists and therapists.  We ensure that we meet pupils' special educational needs.

If you wish to talk to someone about your children's needs, please speak to your child's class teacher or the SENDCos Miss Moss (EYFS/KS1) and Mrs Hallam (KS2).

You can contact  Miss Moss and Mrs Hallam by email directly at senco@dellprimary.org.uk
